At the beginning of 2025, Back 2 Basic testers not only helped me get the it working on all platforms, they also reshaped and inspired several aspects of the game! I am seeking testers once again to help ensure that Back 2 Basic works as expected on Android devices.
Who knows, maybe this next band of testers will inspire new content or features ...

What a journey it has been! In September 2024, I saw a struggle in my child and it broke my heart. We exhausted the paper and pencil worksheets; we needed to try something new. I searched high and low for an app that [I felt] met very simple criteria:
Didn't cost an arm and a leg
Didn't have ads every 5 seconds
Didn't have micro transactions
Gave me control over the content
Showed me how well my kid was doing
Wasn't so loud (both audibly and visually)
It shouldn't have been too much to ask for, but here we are in 2025. So many educational apps are littered with distractions. I get it: keep the kid's attention for as long as possible and get them to spend their parent's money.
I'm not sorry; I will not spend $9.99 per week on an app that considers racing educational. If my children are going to spell while racing, they'll play Mine Cart Madness and spell KONG.
I needed something that could capture my kid's attention for an appropriate amount of time while still requiring my child to think. I didn't need endless entertainment to occupy the little mind for hours. I needed 20 effective minutes. Twenty minutes of low-stimulus educational content that challenged my children - even just a little.
This is just what Back 2 Basic tries to do. It gives the parents full control, and keeps the child learning.
Back 2 Basic is built with the fundamental structure of the classroom in mind. The teacher has the day planned out, and the student is expected to follow that plan. The teacher sees how the student is performing, and makes adjustments as needed. Back 2 Basic works in a similar way:
The adult creates a Lesson Plan based on what the child needs to learn.
The child plays through those lessons in the manner that the adult established.
The adult reviews the child's performance and makes adjustments.
Repeat.
What's the catch? There is none. I realized that the concept of Back 2 Basic would never be green-lit by any company.; I needed to do it myself. So here it is: A years worth of work poured out for kids that struggle and the parents that need the help.
Thank you to my testers, my kids, and my amazing wife for bringing Back 2 Basic to the finish line!
Finish line? I'm not done yet. Back 2 Basic is coming to Android.
